Fort Lauderdale, FL (October 27, 2021) – A pedestrian was critically injured when they were struck by a vehicle on an interstate in Fort Lauderdale. The incident happened just before morning rush hour on Wednesday, October 27.
The pedestrian, who has not been identified at this time, was attempting to cross Interstate 595 near Exit 10B when they were hit by an unspecified vehicle. The victim was only identified as a male. He was transported from the crash scene to a local hospital in critical condition.
Various responders were sent to assist at the scene including troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol and EMS. The crash shut down all lanes of the interstate for some time while police investigated and crews worked to secure the area.
One lane of the interstate was closed for an extended period of time on the morning of Wednesday, October 27 while responders were present. Police in Fort Lauderdale continue to investigate.
