Florida Car Accidents
The state of Florida sees hundreds of thousands of car accidents per year. Approximately 6% of all of the car accidents that happen in the United States occur in Florida, equal to about 400,000 taking place each year. Approximately 28% of Florida car crashes result in some type of injury for those involved. On average, around 3,000 people lose their lives in these wrecks.
Though there are numerous safety measures in place to prevent traffic collisions, they continue to happen at an alarming rate. Unfortunately, traffic accidents almost always occur due to the negligent actions of motorists. Currently, some of the leading causes of car accidents in Florida include:
- Speeding
- Drunk Driving
- Distracted driving, specifically texting while behind the wheel
- Driver fatigue/drowsiness
- Reckless driving, i.e. cutting people off, running red lights, weaving in and out of traffic
With over 1,000 auto collisions per day, the Sunshine State shines bright as the most dangerous state in the nation for motorists. If you or a loved one have recently been hurt in an accident in Florida, it is likely that it was caused by a negligent driver. If you believe that your accident was not your fault, but the fault of another person, contacting a personal injury attorney in Florida could be greatly beneficial to you and your family during this difficult time.
