Homestead, FL (May 30, 2021) – A 5-year-old boy tragically lost his life in a pedestrian collision in Homestead just after 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 29. The crash was stated to have taken place in the 600 block of Southwest 14th Avenue.
Responders with the Homestead Police Department as well as Miami-Dade Fire Rescue were sent to the scene in order to provide assistance. Information from officials states that a 5-year-old boy was hit by a car that then fled the scene of the crash, located at the intersection of 6th Street and Southwest 14th Avenue.
The boy was immediately transported from the site of the collision by medical helicopter to Kendall Regional Trauma Center in critical condition. Police stated that the young victim was later pronounced deceased by medical professionals.
Authorities in Homestead continue to investigate the circumstances of the wreck. The intersection of 6th and Southwest 14th was closed for an extended time period while crews worked at the scene.
