Lake Worth Beach, FL (December 8, 2021) – A 46-year-old man identified as Robert Gaspar lost his life on Sunday, December 5 in Lake Worth Beach after he was struck by a distracted driver. According to reports, the wreck happened in the 200 block of North Dixie Highway just before 3:00 p.m.
Gaspar was sitting in front of a building in the 200 block of North Dixie Highway when the crash took place. A 1997 Mercury Sable driven by a 15-year-old driver left the drive-through of a Burger King restaurant just before he spilled his drink, according to information from officials.
The driver was reportedly distracted by his drink when he drove over the west side of the road, across the sidewalk, and over the stoop that Gaspar was sitting on. Gaspar was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach for treatment, however, he later lost his life.
Charges are currently pending, police said. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
