Miami, FL (November 28, 2021) – A three-car collision occurred on a federal highway in Miami on November 19 that took the life of one elderly woman. She was identified as a 103-year-old woman who lost her life after the vehicle she was in collided with two others.
The wreck was reported on Highway 41 near North Port on Florida’s west coast. Information from the Florida Highway Patrol stated that the vehicle the woman was riding in at the time was being driven by a 68-year-old female. She attempted to turn onto a street from the highway when she collided with another car.
The two vehicles then collided with another vehicle that was stopped at a red light in the area. Both women were admitted to Sarasota Memorial Hospital Medical Center, however, the 103-year-old later lost her life.
Authorities in Miami continue to investigate the details of the accident. We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.
Auto Collisions in Florida
The car accident rate in Florida is one of the highest in the nation. Florida is ranked as one of the most dangerous states to drive in the United States. This may be due to its high population and tourism rate, as well as the year-round warm weather which has people out and about more often than they may be in other states.
The Sunshine State sees approximately 400,000 vehicle accidents per year, over half of which involve injuries. Getting hurt in a car crash is something no one ever wants to have to deal with. Injuries that result from car accidents range from minimal to severe, and when someone is severely injured, they often must undergo extensive treatment in order to fully recover. Treatment can sometimes be expensive and force victims out of work for prolonged periods.
These circumstances are costly and stressful. However, if a vehicle accident that ends in injuries is caused by negligence, the at-fault driver can be held accountable for their negligent actions in court. The innocent parties may also be able to collect financial compensation for their injuries and losses. A Florida personal injury lawyer is an important piece of this puzzle—and will allow for injured victims to collect the maximum financial compensation available for their injuries and losses.
